Director of Corporate Procurement, Fannie Mae
Mike Helfrich currently serves as Director, Procurement within the Fannie Mae Corporate Procurement Department. In this role, Mike leads a team responsible for the category management, sourcing, contracting, and supplier operations activities supporting the Single Family Risk and Collateral Management organization. Prior to his current role, Mike managed the Fannie Mae IT Services category where he was responsible for the creation and execution of category strategies for IT Delivery Services across the enterprise. Mike has over 15 years of category management experience in the Mortgage, Banking, Telecom, and IT Services industries. He has led strategic sourcing activities across multiple categories, including IT Services, Maintenance Repair and Operations, Advisory Services, Outsourced Operations, Data, Software, and Hardware.
Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 2009, Mike started his career at Capital One Financial where he worked for over 10 years. During his time at Capital One he held various roles of increasing responsibility including Sr. Manager, Supplier Management where he led a team responsible for the management of complex global outsourced call center operations. After Capital One, Mike held senior strategic sourcing and category management roles at CSC and Sprint/Nextel. At Sprint/Nextel, he created and executed category strategies for cell site maintenance, repair, and operations services supporting a national footprint of 60,000 cell sites. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
